There's some interesting info about AIM on Stefano's forum.

Might want to add this to the FAQ

Will it be possible to change "Driver" face? The one we can see in helmet. It would be cool if that was a part of a skin, people could recognize themselves insteed of watching same face over and over.

Ok, it's friday and only a weekend away before the mail with the download link will arrive on monday...

But, I have a question or rather several regarding the same issue, and forgive me if it has been asked before though I haven't found it. Here goes:

How will your best laptimes be stored in nKP? Will it be like in GPL where they all are stored in a textfile or in any other way? Will there be a way to export the laptimes if they are not stored in any readable format? And if so, does anyone know the format?

And yes, the reason for asking is the obvious one of maybe being able to (re)write a parser for a similar site like my current GPL-site to do some hotlap/race ranking.

Thanks!

If you want to check the version you have, go to the WINDOWS folder of your system and look there for a folder called MICROSOFT.NET. Then go to the FRAMEWORK folder and you should see another folder called e.g. v1.1.4322. If that's the case you still have NET 1.1
Hi,
The above link points to .NET Compact Framework 2.0 Redistributable, meant for pocketpc's and smartphones. I think you should be downloading this one:

i already downloaded the file in the other version and after a closer look I see your right. Uninstalled it and now installed the normal XP version. I don't know however if the wrong version could cause problems with Netkar. If so this mistake should be made very clear.

me too, i've just installed .net framework 2.0, they are installed, but i dont see them in control panel-->administrative tools

I still see 1.1 (they are still installed)

EDIT: i removed 1.1 (and all, language pack + patch), now testing some software that requires dotnet 2.0 (e.g. Paint.net 2.6, all seems working also on my XP with SP1, i cross my finger all will be fine with netkar PRO, too.

The demo will be the final product, therefore there will be a single download with everything included.

-1 car, the slowest one
-1 track
-Times and AIM display will be switched off in the demo
Everything else, obviously also the possibility to use the MULTIPLAYER part, will need the purchase of the license.
could you (or someone else) clarify a bit the last sentence ? I would like to know if one can set up a dedicated server (with all tracks and cars) without unlocking the full product.

Yes, this is possible. You can just download it, extract it and start a Dedicated Server without activating an account.

I have SP1 and the .NET framework installed just fine for me. probably a MS marketing ploy. It also didn't show up in my control panel until I rebooted. nKP is running just fine on my PC (except I really need a new vid card).

Hope that helps.

I think SP2 is only needed if you want to develop applications for .NET v2.0. for running .NET applications you only need the framework itself, the service pack is not relevant, at least not for win XP

I don't know who you are by your nickname but if Dani know's you and if there is proof that you made parts of this FAQ - than your name will be mentioned.

Please write a PM to Daniel Almeida and sort this out with him, I'm sure he didn't want to offend you.

Hi Andre, this FAQ is a translation from a thread in the drivingitalia-forum and this is mentioned in the first post. If you're the thread starter at Drivingitalia, just let me know the name I shall credit and all is OK.

Small question: in the multiplayer window the custom server bit says default port 27000. Should I forward this (TCP/UDP/both?) anyway, in order to use the multiplayer bit?

I'm asking this because I already have been online and, depending on server ping, that seems to work okay so far.
